Just reaching out to fellow trainers/coaches, I’m curious how y’all have adapted over the last year? I loved working with clients in person, and was proud to bring them to my home gym. When things shut down I went into a bit of a mourning period, feeling like I had lost everything I built. Becoming an online trainer has been amazing, though I still miss working in person. How has it been for you?
Where am I?
In Salut Squad you can ask and answer questions and share your experience with others!

I feel the same way. I'm a people person & I miss the interaction, but I'm really glad I found Salut. It has allowed to continue my passion for fitness and encouraging others. I was a fairly new trainer before the shutdown so didn't have that many clients or a big following yet. I'm not a tech savvy person so going digital is challenging for me. It feels good to have a team behind you, like Salut. I'm learning a lot, and perfecting my craft. It brings me joy and I'm going to stick with it and improve along the way and pray for the best. I always wanted my own business, now I have one.
I totally agree, it’s so nice to feel like you’re supported! I’m so excited/nervous to get started with my first class on Monday. 😳😄
I'll try to be in one of your first classes next week! :) You're going to do awesome!
You'll be great.!! 😁 What are you teaching? And when?
I generally do circuit training, I find it’s the safest and easiest format with groups. I’ll be doing a back routine Monday 😄
Honestly as much as I love people and I love The one-on-one interaction, I love being a coach more. What I mean is i became a personal trainer to impact as many lives as I could. But when your limited 24 hours in a day I feel you will always be capped at how many lives you can change.
I have online clients from all over the world now and my coaches and I are not limited to the hours of the day.
I feel like the personal connection is really up to you, after all I'm sure we are all guilty and follow someone on Instagram or any social media, someone we never met or even talked to, yet we feel like they are our best friends.
Personal connection via online can be done, and in my opinion it's easier to build because you share so much of yourself that the wall a client has is dropped very quickly and also they feel like they have access to you 24/7
And with Salut giving us the ability to sweat and shed a tear or two from an amazing workout together, I think i will strengthen and establish an even stronger connection. Also Salut gives us an opportunity to do what we love but 100x more, which is coachbamd be impactful, because the amount of people who can join a class is limitless
That’s a good outlook, and very true! I’ve gotten to work with clients all over the world thanks to going online. Change is often hard, but also brings new opportunities.
For much/most of the pandemic, I was teaching via FB Live. It was fine, and I could communicate via comments or messages, but I will say, there is something about knowing that someone is THERE, whether or not they choose to turn on their camera, that is really nice. I may not get over to the screen to see them as much as I would like, and I can't see them/their form like I would in a "regular" class, but I can give them a shout out, I can use their names, I can check in with them. I'm excited for you, Emily. Your first class is going to go great! Do a little test run with the technology to make sure you're comfortable, and then when it's class time, be yourself! And if you make a mistake, NO BIG DEAL. We are not on this earth to be perfect! :)
Much grateful for the share. I prefer online for regularly scheduled classes because I like the sense of "freedom" being able to teach and build up my income from anywhere. I noticed when I have live special events or programs, they do better because students and class participants don't get to normally gather live (in-person). It took some time to get this style of fitness/wellness going though. It also took time to adjust students/participants to this style of offerings. But it definitely has its benefits. It's just figuring out what ways best to move forward for self and students. Also, being gentle with Self and doing what you need to feel good with all the changes in life in these interesting times. It's nice to converse and keep contact with folks. So things don't feel disconnected.
